Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior Nick Clark (East Bridgewater, MA) was named the Little East Goalkeeper of the Week, while RIC sophomore midfielder Ignacio Cespedes (Fitchburg, MA) was named Little East Offensive Player of the Week, after the duo helped guide the Anchormen to back-to-back victories over Bridgewater State and UMass Boston on Sept. 20 and 24, respectively.


Clark capped off a stellar week on Saturday when he made the game-saving stop on a penalty kick attempt with 56 seconds left in regulation, preserving the 2-1 victory over UMass Boston. Clark finished the week with a 2-0 record to go along with a 1.00 GAA and eight saves.

For the season, Clark is 4-4 in eight starts with a 1.34 GAA and 11 saves. He is a business major and 2009 graduate of East Bridgewater High School.


Cespedes had a brilliant week as well for the Anchormen, notching the game-winning goal in both of RICís wins. He scored twice against Bridgewater State in the 3-1 victory on Tuesday, and found the back of the net once more against the Beacons of UMass Boston on Saturday in the 82nd minute.

He has played in six games, starting five of them. Cespedes leads Rhode Island College with five goals and is tied for the Little East lead in that regard as well.


Cespedes, a transfer from Franklin Pierce, is a biology major and 2009 graduate of Leominster High School.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Framingham State on Wednesday, Sept. 28 (6 p.m.).
