Anchorwomen Down Eastern Nazarene, 3-0

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team recorded their second shutout victory of the season and extended the squad’s winning streak to seven matches with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-16) win over Eastern Nazarene at The Murray Center on Thursday.


RIC (11-7) swept Eastern Nazarene (7-11) in three sets and never once trailed throughout the entire match. In doing so, the Anchorwomen improved their home record to 9-1 and have now won nine of their last 10, including their last seven matches.

Junior setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) led Rhode Island College with 20 assists in the win. Sophomore middle hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) tallied eight kills, four blocks and four digs, while junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) added eight kills of her own.


Freshman middle hitter Marina Stoermer (Seattle, WA) notched a team-high seven digs to go along with six kills, three aces and a pair of blocks. Sophomore defensive specialist Katie McGovney (Barrington, RI) added five digs, while junior right side hitter Rachel Perry (Swansea, MA) recorded four kills and a pair of digs.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Roger Williams on Sunday, Oct. 9 to face the Hawks. The winner of that match will face the winner of Salve Regina vs. Johnson & Wales, while the losers will also square off.
