Providence, R.I.-Freshman defender Patrick LaRoche (Gardner, MA) and senior goalkeeper Nick Clark (East Providence, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.


LaRoche was named the Little East Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. He posted three assists and anchored RIC's defensive corps. LaRoche set up two goals in the Anchormen's, 4-1, win at Westfield State on Oct. 19, then helped RIC secure a 2-1 victory at Plymouth State  as his free kick found senior forward Bruno Costa (Pawtucket, RI) for the "Golden Goal" in the second overtime period on Oct. 22.


For the season, LaRoche has played in 15 games, starting all of them. He is tied for the team lead with six assists. LaRoche is serving as one of the team's captains, the first-ever freshman Head Coach John Mello has entrusted with this honor.


He is a business administration major and a 2009 graduate of Gardner High School.

Clark was named the Little East Conference Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. It is the second time this season he has received this honor. He posted a 0.94 goals against average and .900 save percentage to lead Rhode Island College in two victories. He made a season-high 13 saves in a 4-1 win over Westfield State on Oct. 19. Three days later, Clark registered five saves, including several key first-half stops, as the Anchormen edged Little East rival Plymouth State, 2-1, in double overtime.


For the season, Clark has played in 15 games, starting all of them. He is 9-6 with two shutouts, a 1.18 goals against average and an .800 save percentage.


He is a business major and a 2008 graduate of East Bridgewater High School.

The Anchormen are currently 9-7 overall and 4-2 (second place tie) in the Little East Conference.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, Oct. 26 (3:30 p.m.)., before closing out the regular season against Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 29 (1 p.m.) in Little East Conference action.
