North Dartmouth, Mass.-Junior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) earned N.E. All-Alliance honors by placing fifth (153 competitors) with a time of 25:43 to help guide Rhode Island College to a sixth place finish (14 teams) at the New England Alliance and Little East Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.


McCloskey’s effort was the 13th-fastest time in the championship’s history.

Rhode Island College totaled a score of 156.0 in the Alliance and placed third (six teams) in the Little East for a score of 88.0. Southern Maine captured both the Alliance and LEC crowns with scores of 50 and 31, respectively.


Junior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed 34th overall with a time 27:21. Freshman Ian LaPlume (Hope Valley, RI) finished 39th overall with a time of 27:27.


Sophomore Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) placed 56th overall with a time of 28:11, while junior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) finished 58th overall with a time of 28:14.


Freshman Marcus Sandoval (Portsmouth, RI) finished 69th overall with a time of 28:43, while sophomore Tom DeCristofaro (Smithfield, RI) placed 76th with a time of 28:54.


Junior Kevin Carey (Wakefield, RI) finished 93rd with a time of 29:33, while junior Kyle Mann (West Warwick, RI) finished 108th and rounded out the RIC contingent with a time of 30:20.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, hosted by Williams on Saturday, Nov. 5.
