York (0-12) performed well on defense, holding Rhode Island College (8-2) to just 31 percent shooting, but the Cardinals fared worse on offense, shooting just 28 percent on the night.  RIC also held a 53-39 rebounding advantage on the night.

The Cardinals kept it close early, but an 11-0 run midway through the first half turned a two-point game into a 13-point lead for the Anchorwomen. Junior guard Cassie Novicky (New Milford, CT) capped the run with a three-pointer to make the score 24-11. The game was never close from that point on, as the Anchorwomen took a 14-point advantage into the locker room and were able to maintain that comfortable lead throughout the second half.

Despite the loss, York got a nice game from Shadae Rice, who netted 14 points and handed out four assists. Vania St. Louis chipped in eight points and Stayce Kay Muirhead grabbed 10 rebounds.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference play at home against UMass Boston on Saturday, Jan. 7 (1 p.m.).
