Newton, Mass.Senior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) and freshman middle hitter Adriana Ambari (Beacon Falls, CT) led the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team with 13 and 10 kills, respectively, as the Anchorwomen cruised past Lasell, 3-0 (25-15, 25-7, 25-11), on Monday evening.


The Anchorwomen (3-8) win for the second straight match, while keeping the Lasers winless (0-11).

Boyer hit .619 (13-0-20) in the match and pitched in with seven digs. Senior setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) set up 28 winners, while freshman right side hitter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) contributed a team-high 15 digs and five kills. Freshman libero Jasmyn Starr (Gilford, NH) registered 13 digs.

 Heather Longley (North Granby, CT) lead the hosts with three kills, and four other Lasers notched two kills apiece.


 The two teams traded points to start the opening set, and were level at 12-12 before Rhode Island College ran off 13 of the final 16 points to close out Lasell, 25-15. The second set saw the hosts struggle to find their footing early, as RIC jumped out to a 13-1 lead and didn't look back. Lasell fell behind again in the third set, trailing 17-2 before staging a rally by scoring seven out of the next 10 points to cut the deficit to 20-9. The Lasers were unable to build on their momentum, falling 25-11 in the final set.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Western New England on Thursday, Sept. 20 (7 p.m.).
