Anchorwomen Take Five Singles
Matches in, 8-1, Win at Clark

RIC Improves to 2-0

Worcester, Mass.-Junior Chelsea Brown (Wallingford, CT) earned a straight set (6-4, 6-0) win at No. 2 singles to power Rhode Island College past Clark, 8-1, in collegiate women's tennis action played at the Corash Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.


The Anchorwomen (2-0) opened with three victories in singles as sophomore Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, RI) and freshman Jorgie Martin (Smithfield, RI) won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles.  


Freshmen Julie Reddy (Greenville, RI) and Noelle Tiberi (Smithfield, RI) scored an 8-1 decision at second doubles, while RIC won by default at No. 3 doubles.

The Anchorwomen took five of six in singles, paced by Brown's victory at second singles.  Sophomore Tressa Cannata (Cranston, RI) won (6-4, 6-1) at No. 3 singles, while Reddy (6-1, 6-1) and Tiberi (6-1, 6-2) picked up victories at the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Martin wrapped up the contest with a 6-2, 6-4, decision at No. 6 singles.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Salve Regina on Thursday, Sept 5 (4 p.m.).
