Middletown, Conn.-Sophomore setter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) finished with eight assists, two kills and two digs as Rhode Island College fell, 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-10) to Wesleyan in collegiate women's volleyball action on Tuesday evening.


Senior middle hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) finished with three kills and three digs for the Anchorwomen (2-23).


Wesleyan University hit with a phenomenal .493 team efficiency with 43 kills and just eight errors in 71 attempts

 The Cardinals raced to a 10-1 bulge in the first set and led comfortably throughout.  In the second set, Wesleyan broke away from a 5-5 tie with a 6-1 run for an 11-6 lead and pulled away progressively for the nine-point win.  In the third set, it again stood 11-6 near the midway point before Wesleyan ended on a 14-4 run to wrap up the match. 


Senior Kate Centofanti led the Cardinals with 13 kills and a .600 hitting percentage.  Seniors Monica Leslie and Kim Farris both added nine kills.  Sophomore Brenna Tharnstrom handled most of the setting for Wesleyan, dishing out 33 assists. Freshman Rachel Savage took match-high honors for Wesleyan with nine digs.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Little East Conference rival Southern Maine for a tri-match along with Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday, Oct. 26 (noon).
