North Dartmouth, Mass.-Junior Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) earned three New England Alliance honors to lead the Rhode Island College menís track and field team at the 2014 New England Alliance Championships, hosted by UMass Dartmouth, on Sunday afternoon.


 RIC finished sixth (11 teams) in the Alliance with a score of 63.0. Bridgewater State won the Alliance Championships with a score of 134.33. The Anchormen placed third (six teams) in the Little East with a score of 92. UMass Dartmouth won the LEC title with a score of 190.


Forbes picked up a trio of New England Alliance honors on the day, as he was the N.E. Alliance Champion in the 400m hurdles (54.24) and was the Little East Champion in the 110m hurdles, where he finished second overall (15.08). Forbes also placed third in the long jump (6.22m) and 11th in the high jump (1.78m).

Freshman Steven Vazquez (Central Falls, RI) earned a pair of N.E. Alliance honors, as he finished third in the high jump (1.98m) and sixth in the triple jump (12.60m), while also finishing 17th in the 400m (53.01).

Sophomore Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) was the N.E. Alliance Champion in the hammer (55.68m) and also placed seventh in the discus (41.92m) and 10th in the shot (12.26m).

Sophomore Jack Covino (Cumberland, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors after taking second in the hammer (48.79m).


Sophomore Christian Colavecchio (Foster, RI) earned N. E. Alliance honors with a fourth place finish in the hammer (43.52m) and also finished 16th in the javelin (39.72m).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield College, on Friday, May 2 (10 a.m.).
