Montreal, Quebec-Freshman guard Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) poured in a team-high 13 points to lead the Rhode Island College menís basketball team to a 73-63 victory over Vanier College in exhibition action played in Canada on Friday night.


Cilley shot 5-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, while adding two steals in 22 minutes of action to pace the Anchormen. Senior guard Tom DeCiantis (North Kingstown, RI) tallied 11 points on 5-for-10 shooting in just 10 minutes, while sophomore center Mike Neal (Pawtucket, RI) led RIC in the paint with seven points and 10 rebounds, including six offensive boards, in 22 minutes.

Senior guard Michael Palumbo (Providence, RI) posted nine points for the Anchormen, while senior guard Nyheem Sanders (Pawtucket, RI) chipped in with seven points, three rebounds, and two assists.


Freshman forward Brian Daniels (Elmsford, NY) added seven points and four rebounds, while shooting 5-for-6 from the free throw line, in his debut with the team. Junior forward Chris Burton (New Rochelle, NY) recorded six points and three rebounds in 18 minutes on Friday.


RIC shot 40 percent (26-for-65) from the floor, 44 percent (7-for-16) from three-point land, and 74 percent (14-for-19) from the free throw line. The Anchormen held the Cheetahs to just a 38 percent (24-for-63) shooting effort on the evening. 


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College continues exhibition action against John De Brebeuf on Saturday, Oct. 12 (4:30 p.m.).
