Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior middle hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) was named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week and freshman setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week for their respective performances in a 2-1 week for the Anchorwomen.


Malboeuf hit .311 (34-10-77) for the week with 34 kills, 12 digs, one service ace and three block assists. Malboeuf recorded nine kills and two digs in a 3-0 Anchorwomen victory over Lasell on Sept. 16. She followed that performance with 15 kills and 10 digs in a 3-2 RIC loss to Worcester State on Sept. 18. She finished the week hitting .833 with 10 kills in a 3-0 victory over Mitchell on Sept. 20.

For the season, Malboeuf has appeared in 32 sets in nine matches. She leads the team with 74 kills, while also contributing one assist, eight service aces, 30 digs and five blocks. She is hitting a team high .224 on the season.


White recorded a team high 105 assists on the week for the Anchorwomen. She added four kills, six service aces and 24 digs. White started the week by handing out 28 assists and notching seven digs in the RIC victory over Lasell. She had a match-high 47 assists against Worcester State, while also tallying 11 digs. She rounded out the week with 30 more helpers and six digs in the 3-0 victory over Mitchell.

For the season White has appeared in all 32 sets in nine matches. She leads the team with 245 assists, while also tallying 11 kills, 12 service aces, 59 digs and six blocks.


Head Coach Leo Bush’s team sits at 3-6 on the season and 1-0 in Little East play.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at UMass Boston on Tuesday, Sept. 23 (6 p.m.).
