Quincy, Mass.-Junior outside hitter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) recorded a team high 15 kills, while freshman setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) had a team high 37 assists, to lead the Rhode Island College womenís volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) victory over Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday night.


RIC (6-8) opened an 18-9 lead In the first set, punctuated by an ace from junior middle hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI).  The Lions cut the lead down to seven, 21-14, when freshman defensive specialist Madisen Robinson (West Grove, PA) fed junior outside hitter Hannah Welsh (Derry, NH) for a kill. The Anchorwomen didnít let the Lions claw back however as Palazzini ended the set with two consecutive kills for the 25-14 victory.

The second set saw the Anchorwomen open up another large lead, 15-6, when freshman setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) set up sophomore middle hitter Dara Johnson (Boston, MA) for the kill. A Johnson attack error pulled the Lions to within five, 17-12, but the Anchorwomen outscored the hosts 8-5 down the stretch to take the second set victory, 25-17.


In the final stanza, the Anchorwomen opened up another large lead when Palazinni took a feed from White to put RIC up, 17-10. Eastern Nazarene cut the lead down to five, 23-18, when freshman outside hitter Kayla Dean (Lansdale, PA) fed senior outside hitter Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, WV), but the Anchorwomen finished out the sweep, taking the third set 25-19.


 RIC was led by Palazziniís 15 kills and .433 hitting percentage, while three players recorded 10 digs. Malboeuf notched nine kills, 10 digs and a team high two aces for the Anchorwomen. Eastern Nazarene was led by Jenkinsí nine kills and Deanís team-high nine assists.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host St. Joseph's (ME) on Friday, Oct. 3 (7 p.m.).
