Chestnut Hill, Mass.-Lasell senior forward Bridget Lynch (Dover, NH) tallied four goals and freshman midfielder Casey Meissner (Sandwich, MA) dished out three assists as the Lasers defeated Rhode Island College, 9-2, in collegiate women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.


RIC (2-13-1) opened the scoring in the second minute when sophomore midfielder Jaclyn Greenman (Waterford, CT) sent a ball to classmate, defender Angela Ragosta (Greenville, RI), who chipped it past Laser (14-4) freshman goaltender Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, MA) for the early 1-0 lead.


The Lasers upped the pressure and broke through in the 13th minute when sophomore forward Megan Cullen (Amesbury, MA) took a feed from Meissner to knot the score at one.

The pressure continued with Lynch scoring her first of the night off a feed from Meissner in the 16th minute. Cullen notched her second of the afternoon just 23 seconds later off another Meissner feed. The Lasers scored seven minutes later when Lynch tallied an unassisted marker. Sophomore midfielder Bridget Makles (Newington, CT) rounded out the first half scoring at the 38:48 mark for the 5-1 lead, which is where the score stayed until the break.


Lynch opened up the scoring just 2:11 into the second half, scoring an unassisted goal to make the lead 6-1. Sophomore midfielder Erin Smith (Gorham, ME) scored in the 52nd minute to give the Lasers another score. The Anchorwomen cut into the lead in the 62nd minute when junior Gabrielle Turner (Smithfield, RI) scored with assists going to freshman midfielder Stephanie Ricci (Smithfield, RI) and freshman forward Brooke Morris (Lincoln, RI). The Lasers added goals in the 64th and 81st minute to account for the final margin.


RIC senior goaltenders Audrey Maia (Norton, MA) and Justina Thoma (Canterbury, CT) combined for 11 saves, while LaClair and sophomore Caitlin Greco (Higganum, CT) combined for four saves in the victory.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at home against UMass Boston on Saturday, Nov. 1 (1 p.m.).
