RIC OPENS 2014-15 SEASON WITH, 50-4,
Head Coach Jay Jones Earns 200th Career Win

Nashua, N.H.-Junior 141 lbs. Ricondo Cole (Cranston, RI) was one of five Rhode Island College wrestlers to pick up a win via a pin and Head Coach Jay Jones picked up his 200th career victory as the Anchormen opened the 2014-15 season with a 50-4 win over Daniel Webster College on Wednesday evening.


 Daniel Webster (0-1) freshman Steven Dwight (Malden, MA) opened the match with a 9-0 major decision at 285 lbs. before RIC (1-0) ripped off wins in the next nine matches, which included two forfeits and five pins.


After RIC freshman Brennen Liebel (Feeding Hills, MA) secured a forfeit victory at 125 lbs., sophomore Jake Dorman (Foxboro, MA) picked up a technical fall win, 17-1 at 133 lbs.

 Cole, who is ranked second in New England at his weight class, pinned his opponent at 141 lbs. and junior Chris Pecora (Carmel, NY) won via forfeit at 149 lbs.


 Freshman Vincent Drago (Hauppauge, NY), sophomore Victor Zabalu (Hudson, MA), junior Brandon Conrad (East Bridgewater, MA) and sophomore John Georges (Cranston, RI) rounded out the victory with pins.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will take part in the Oneonta State Duals on Saturday, Nov. 15.
