2014 Rhode Island College Women’s Volleyball
Season Summary

(12-14 Overall; 3-4 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, R.I.-Head Coach Leo Bush’s (12-14, .462) team finished the 2014 season with a 12-14 record overall and a 3-4 (fifth place) mark in the Little East Conference. The 12 victories were a nine-win improvement from the 2013 season. By virtue of their fifth place finish, the Anchorwomen earned a trip to the Little East Conference Tournament for the first time since the 2012 campaign.


The Anchorwomen faced eventual LEC champion Western Connecticut State in the first round of the tourney, but ended up falling, 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-18).




Junior right side hitter Hannah Cole (Coventry, RI) played in 84 sets in 25 matches. She recorded 21 assists (.25/set), 13 service aces (.15/set) and 195 digs (2.32/set).


Junior middle hitter Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) played in 87 sets in 26 matches. She recorded team-highs with 233 kills (2.68/set) and 23 blocks (.26/set), while also registering 221 digs (2.54/set), 32 service aces (.37/set), six assists (.07/set) and a .154 hitting percentage. She was named the Little East Offensive Player of the Week one time on the season.


Junior outside hitter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) appeared in 86 sets in 26 matches. She recorded 210 kills (2.44/set), a .102 hitting percentage, 15 assists (.17/set), 26 service aces (.30/set), a team-high 235 digs (2.73/set) and 10 blocks (.12/set).


Junior middle hitter Morgan Stewart (Willington, CT) played in 88 sets in 26 matches. She notched 105 kills (1.19/set), a .125 hitting percentage, 25 assists (.28/set), 46 digs (.52/set) and 12 blocks (.14/set).


Sophomore libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) played in 68 sets in 21 matches. She recorded four kills (.06/set), nine assists (.13/set), a team-high 36 aces (.53/set) and 217 digs (3.19/set).


Sophomore middle hitter Dara Johnson (Boston, MA) appeared in 55 sets in 18 matches. She notched 71 kills (1.29/set), three assists (.05/set), eight digs (.15/set) and 17 blocks (.31/set) and a .185 hitting percentage.


Sophomore defensive specialist Taylor Lariviere (Cumberland, RI) appeared in eight sets in five matches. She tallied one kill (.12/set) and one dig (.12/set) on the season.


Sophomore defensive specialist Melissa Ring (Salem, NH) appeared in 22 sets in 13 matches. She recorded two assists (.09/set) and 32 digs (1.45/set) on the season.


Sophomore middle hitter Sierra Smith (Longmont, CO) appeared in 59 sets in 20 matches. She tallied 95 kills (1.61/set), a .156 hitting percentage, four assists (.07/set), 11 digs (.19/set) and 20 blocks (.34/set).


Sophomore defensive specialist Nicole Thibodeau (Loxahatchee, FL) played in 42 sets in 22 matches. She recorded one assist (.02/set), seven service aces (.17/set) and 41 digs (.98/set).


Freshman defensive specialist Cheyenne Bernier (Acushnet, MA) appeared in five sets and four matches. She recorded five digs (1.00/set).


Freshman outside hitter Kaitlan Engels (Cumberland, RI) appeared in 14 sets in nine matches. She recorded five kills (.36/set), one service ace (.07/set) and 10 digs (.71/set).


Freshman outside hitter Lauren Magoon (Quincy, MA) appeared in seven sets in six matches. She recorded three kills (.43/set), a .111 hitting percentage and one dig (.14/set) on the season.


Freshman defensive specialist Megan Stanzione (Wilton, CT) played in 81 sets in 26 matches. She recorded 58 kills (.72/set), a .123 hitting percentage, six assists (.07/set), 17 service aces (.21/set), 129 digs (1.59/set) and eight blocks (.10/set).


Freshman setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) appeared in 87 sets in 26 matches. White notched 34 kills (.39/set), a .102 hitting percentage, a team-high 707 assists (8.13/set), 20 service aces (.23/set), 218 digs (2.51/set) and 10 blocks (.11/set). She was named the Little East Rookie of the Week three times.
