Orlando, Fla.-Washington senior midfielder Emily Hubley (West Chester, PA) scored five goals to lead all scorers as the Shorewomen defeated Rhode Island College, 17-0, in women’s lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.


Washington (2-1) jumped out early and never looked back, outscoring the Anchorwomen (0-2) 14-0 in the first half. Hubley scored all four of her goals in the first frame, while RIC freshman goalkeeper Alasondra Apici (Providence, RI) made three saves.


The second half saw a defensive battle with the Shorewomen outscoring the Anchorwomen 3-0 in the frame. RIC sophomore defender Sara Stone (Wakefield, RI) led the Anchorwomen with three ground balls, while freshman Taylor Theriault (Lincoln, RI) and classmate Erin Durigan (Cranston, RI) each chipped in two.

Washington held the Anchorwomen without a shot, 22-0, in the contest.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Coast Guard on Saturday, March 14 (1 p.m.).
