Providence, R.I.-Junior Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) finished in second place, five strokes behind the winner, to lead the Rhode Island College menís golf team at the 2015 RIC Spring Invitational played at Valley Country Club on Friday and Saturday.


RIC placed second (17 teams) with a two-day total of 633 (305, 328; +57). Williams won the invitational with a score 614 (300, 314; +38).


Cooper finished second overall with a score of 151 (73, 78; +7). Junior Pete Camerlengo (Pembroke, MA) placed second on the team and in a tie for 23rd with a 162 (79, 83; +18).

Freshman Drew Quirk (Longmeadow, MA) finished in a tie with Camerlengo (83, 79; +18), while senior Ryan Butler (Windham, NH) finished in a tie for 31st place with a score of 164 (76, 88; +20).


Junior John Roderick (Hope, RI), playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 37th, shooting a 165 (77, 88; +21), while senior Patrick Ford (Halifax, MA) finished in a tie for 41st with a score of 166 (77, 89; +22).



Junior R.J. Soares (Dighton, MA), playing individually, finished in a tie for 74th with a score of 178 (84, 94; +34). Rounding out the RIC contingent was junior Eddie Francis (Burlington, MA), who finished 80th with a score of 186 (93, 93; +42).


Williams sophomore Ross Hoffman (Great Neck, NY) took the medalist honors with a 146 (70, 76; +2), followed by Cooper and UMass Dartmouth sophomore Michael Byron (Bourne, MA) who finished third with a 153 (71, 82; +9).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Hampton Inn Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday, April 10-11.
