Five Additional Anchormen Also Recognized

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College sophomore 285 lbs. Terrance Jean-Jacques (Haverhill, MA) was name the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Co-Wrestler of the Year and First Team All-NEWA. Five additional Anchormen also received Honorable Mention All-NEWA recognition from the league.

Jean-Jacques finished the season with a 34-2 record and earned All-American honors following a second place finish at the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championships on Mar. 14-15.


Before the NCAA Championships, Jean-Jacques sported a 31-1 record, with his only loss coming in the regional finals, to go along with 18 pins. He entered the NCAA tournament with the No. 8 seed, and quickly dispatched of his first opponent. He then scored major decisions over the No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, seeds in the tournament before falling, 1-0, in the championship match to the second seed. By virtue of Jean-Jacques’ performance, the Anchormen finished the season placing 22nd (55 teams) at the NCAA Championships. He wrapped up the season with a 34-2 overall record.

Five other Anchormen were named Honorable Mention All-NEWA in their respective weight class. Senior 125 lbs. Jonathan Murray (Brentwood, NY), senior 133 lbs. Jonathan Costa (New Bedford, MA), junior 141 lbs. Ricondo Cole (Cranston, RI), junior 149 lbs. Shawn Giblin (Cranston, RI) and sophomore 157 lbs. Michael Murphy (North Providence, RI) were all Honorable Mention All-NEWA selections, with Murphy securing a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

Head Coach Jay Jones’ team finished the season with a 10-8 overall record and a 9-5 mark against NEWA competition.
