New London, Conn.--RIC senior Kelsey Lace (Glendale, RI) notched a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, while sophomore setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) recorded 31 assists, as the Anchorwomen fell, 3-1, at Coast Guard in women's volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.


The first set was tied, 1-1, but the Bears (18-8) took the next point and never trailed during the remainder of the frame, taking the first set victory, 25-23.


The Anchorwomen (16-10) evened the match at 1-1 in the second set, falling behind, 15-12, before knotting the game at 18-18 and outscoring the hosts, 7-1, down the stretch to take the 25-19 win.

Coast Guard was in control for the remainder of the match, taking the next two sets by the scores of 25-15 and 25-18, respectively.


Lace led the Anchorwomen in kills, while senior Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) recorded 12 kills and nine digs, in the loss.


CGA sophomore outside hitter Summer Adams (Gig Harbor, WA) hit .407 on the day, registering 13 winners and five digs, while senior setter Maggie Hine (Richmond, VA) led both squads with 41 assists on the day.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, Oct. 27 (7 p.m.).
