CUMMINS BREAKS HAMMER RECORD
AT YELLOW JACKET INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.-Senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) broke the facility record in the hammer (60.10m; program record), while also placing seventh in the discus (39.48m), to lead the Rhode Island College menís outdoor track & field team at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

 

Rhode Island College finished 13th (22 teams) with a score of 33.0. Southern Maine won the invitational with a score of 77.0.

Freshman Newell Roberts (Providence, RI) finished fourth in the pole vault (4.10m). Sophomore Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) finished sixth in the hammer (49.09m) and 14th in the discus (36.28).

 

Junior Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) finished seventh in the shot (13.34m), seventh in javelin (48.08m), ninth in the hammer (45.40m) and 10th in the discus (38.05m). Freshman Destin Bibemi (Providence, RI) finished third in the 400m (50.83) and 16th in the 200m (23.41).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Silfen Invitational on Saturday, April 16.
