CABRAL LEADS MEN'S TRACK TO SEVENTH PLACE FINISH AT SILFEN INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.-Rhode Island College junior Colin Cabral (Cumberland, RI) notched three top-10 finishes to lead the Rhode Island College menís outdoor track and field team at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday.

 

The Anchormen finished seventh (17 teams) with a score of 50.0. Tufts won the meet with a score of 179.0.

 

Cabral finished fourth in the shot (13.59m), eighth in the javelin (50.20m), 10th in the hammer (42.59m) and 15th in the discus (35.79m).

Senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) finished first in the hammer (57.57m), fifth in the discus (40.36m) and seventh in the shot (13.26m).

 

Freshman Newell Roberts (Providence, RI) finished third in the pole vault (3.80m).

 

Sophomore Matthew Charles (North Providence, RI) finished third in the 200m (22.29), sixth in the 100m (11.07) and 11th in the long jump (5.91m), while also competing as a member of the seventh place 4x400m relay (3:30.32) and the 10th place 4x100m relay (46.44).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will compete at the MIT Invitational on Saturday, April 23 (10 a.m.).
