Providence, R.I.--Eastern Connecticut freshman attacker Michelina Pinto (Groton, CT), sophomore attacker Katie Burke (South Windsor, CT) and junior midfielder Paige Schneider (East Lyme, CT) combined for 10 goals and six assists to lead the Warriors to an 18-2 victory over Rhode Island College in Little East Conference womenís lacrosse action played at the RIC Lacrosse Field on Tuesday night.


The Warriors (10-5, 4-1 LEC) wasted no time getting on the board as Pinto notched her first goal of the night just 33 seconds into the game for the 1-0 lead. RIC (4-9, 0-5 LEC) responded when freshman attacker Tess Bradley (Tiverton, RI) scored off a feed from sophomore attacker Erin Durigan (Cranston, RI) just 1:25 later to knot the game at 1-1. The Warriors took control from there, scoring the next 11 goals of the half to send the game into to halftime with the visitors leading by 11, 12-1.


RIC freshman goalie Julia Eaton (Cumberland, RI) stopped six shots in the half with Eastern junior Taylor Emmerson (Colchester, CT) turning aside one shot in the stanza.

RIC cut the deficit down to 10, 12-2, when Durigan scored off a feed from freshman attacker Alison Nolan (Topsham, ME) just 3:10 into the second half. With the Warriors starters resting, the second unit continued to dominate the time of possession, scoring six goals down the stretch to cruise to the 18-2 victory.


Eaton turned aside 10 shots in the loss (4-9) with Emmerson (10-5) and freshman Jessica Purick (Riverhead, NY) combining for five saves in the game.


Pinto led the attack, scoring four goals and chipping in three helpers for seven points. Burke notched three goals and two assists, while Schneider finished with a hat trick of her own to go along with one assist in the win.


Durigan led the Anchorwomen with one goal and one assist with Bradley (goal) and Nolan (assist) each picking up a point in the loss.


Eastern held a commanding, 39-11,d advantage in shots, 25-22 lead in ground balls and a 15-7 edge in draw controls (Pinto had six).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at Southern Maine on Saturday, April 30 (1 p.m.).
