WOSENCROFT EARNS THREE ALL-NEW ENGLAND HONORS AS RIC FINISHES 14TH

Springfield, Mass.--Rhode Island College senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI) earned All-New England honors in the 400m, long jump, 200m and as part of the 4x100m relay to lead the women’s track & field team at the 2016 N.E. Div. III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Springfield on Friday and Saturday.

 

The Anchorwomen placed 14th (30 teams) with a score of 27.0. MIT won the meet with a score of 123.50.

 

Wosencroft finished second in the 400m (57.09), fourth in the 200m (25.31) and fifth in the long jump (5.46m), while also competing as a member of the fifth place 4x100m relay (48.62; new program record).

Freshman Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) finished ninth in both the 100m (12.84) and the 200m (25.83), while also earning All-N.E. honors as a member of the fifth place 4x100m relay (48.62; new program record). Freshman Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) earned All-N.E. honors with a fifth place finish as part of the 4x100m relay (48.62; new program record).

 

Freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) earned All-New England honors with a third place finish in the triple jump (11.42m), while also finishing 10th in the 400m hurdles (1:05.73) and 13th in the long jump (5.13m). Brunelle also earned All-N.E. honors as a member of the fifth place 4x100m relay (48.62).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Open Championships (10 a.m.) on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14.
