Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College senior Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Div. III PING Northeast All-Region Team for his performance during the 2015-16 season. It marks the second consecutive season Cooper has received this honor.


Cooper helped the golf team win its fifth straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship and finished second as an individual (earning All-Conference honors) last fall. He also earned All-New England honors and helped the Anchormen finish first at the NEIGA Div. III Championships by capturing the individual title at the event (110 competitors).




Cooper is currently averaging a 76.2 in 12 events this season. He has shot a season-low score of 72 twice, first in the opening round at the Williams Invitational on Sept. 12 and again on the first day of the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Spring Invitational on April 16. He has been the medalist at two invitationals this season.


Cooper shot a two-over 74 during the first day of competition at the 2016 NCAA Div. III Menís Golf National Championships and is currently sitting in a tie for 18th place. RIC is currently in 27th place with the second round of competition slated for Wednesday afternoon.
