BRUNELLE FINISHES SECOND IN THE TRIPLE JUMP AT JAY CARISELLA INVITATIONAL

Boston, Mass.--Senior Autumn Wosencroft (Newport, RI), freshman Darchelle Judd (Providence, RI) and freshman Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) each recorded top-10 finishes to lead the Rhode Island College women’s indoor track & field squad at the Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern on Saturday afternoon.

 

It was an individual meet for all Div. II and III participating institutions, while Northeastern won the Div. I portion with a score of 207.5.

 

 

 Freshman Melanie Brunelle

 

Wosencroft placed eighth in the long jump (5.16m). Brunelle finished second in the triple jump (11.20m) and 15th in the high jump (1.55m).

 

Judd placed 10th in the 200m (26.64) and 21st in the 60m (8.21). Freshman Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) finished 22nd in the 200m (27.35) and 23rd in the 60m (8.28).

 

Junior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) finished 11th in the 800m (2:30.97) with freshman Lauren Paiva (Coventry, RI) finishing 16th in the 800m (2:49.62).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 16.
