CUMMINS PLACES 12TH IN THE WEIGHT THROW
AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Grinnell, IA--Rhode Island College senior Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) finished 12th in the weight throw (17.00m) at the 2016 NCAA Div. III Menís Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Grinnell College on Friday afternoon.

 

Cummins was competing in his fifth NCAA Championship (three indoor; two outdoor), and will look to add a sixth qualification in the outdoor season.

 

 

 

This season, Cummins was named the Little East Conference Field Athlete of the Year. He earned All-New England honors, finishing first in the weight throw (18.57m) at the 2016 N.E. Div. III Championships on Feb. 19-20. Cummins earned N.E. Alliance honors with a first place finish in the weight throw (18.56m), while also finishing 12th in the shot (12.41m), at the 2016 N.E. Alliance Championships on Feb. 13. Cummins was named the Little East Conference Field Athlete of the Week five times this season and set the school record in the weight throw (19.28m) at the Tufts Last Chance Meet.

 

Cummins and the Anchormen return to action on Saturday, April 2 when they compete at the Coast Guard Invitational to open the outdoor season (10 a.m.).
