LEAZES WINS TWO EVENTS IN, 135-83, LOSS
AT EASTERN CONNECTICUT

Willimantic, Conn.--Rhode Island College junior Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI) notched a pair of victories as the Rhode Island College women’s swimming team fell to Eastern Connecticut State, 135-83, on the road on Saturday morning.

 

The Anchorwomen’s (0-2) Leazes finished first in the 200-yard IM (2:37.68), first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:09.9) and second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:41.89). She was also a member of the third place 400-yard medley relay team (4:52.35).

 

Sophomore Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished first in the 50-yard breast (34.72), second in the 100-yard fly (1:10.73) and third in the 50-yard backstroke (35.49). She was also a member of the third place 400-yard medley relay team (4:52.35).

 

 

 Freshman Kellie Gilluly

 

Freshman Kellie Gilluly (Bradford, RI) finished first in the 50-yard fly (32.55), third in the 50-yard freestyle (30.64) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.75). She was also a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.54).

 

Freshman Madison Lane (Barrington, RI) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:14.22) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.46). She was also a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.54) and the third place 400-yard medley relay team (4:52.35).

 

Freshman Kimberly Olivos (Providence, RI) finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (45.13), fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:50.61) and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:38.38). She was also a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.54).

 

Freshman Courtney Payne (Waterford, CT) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.39) and third in the 100-yard breast (1:28.28). She was also a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:12.54) and the third place 400-yard medley relay team (4:52.35).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at Western Connecticut on Friday, Nov. 20 (6 p.m.)
