CONRAD & GIBLIN LEAD WRESTLING TO
SIXTH PLACE FINISH AT DOUG PARKER INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.-Rhode Island College senior 184 lbs. Brandon Conrad (East Bridgewater, MA) and classmate 141 lbs. Shawn Giblin (Cranston, RI) placed second and third in their respective weight classes,  to lead the Anchormen to a sixth place finish at the 2015 Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield on Saturday.

 

Rhode Island College totaled a team score of 81.0. Stevens Institute of Technology took home the title with a score of 162.0.

 

 

 Senior 184 lbs. Brandon Conrad

 

Conrad earned a bye, then ripped off three straight wins before falling in the title match of the 184 lbs. weight class. He went 3-1 and picked up one pin.

 

Giblin was disqualified in his first match, then went on a five-match tear to finish with a 5-1 mark and secure a third place finish at 141 lbs. He compiled three pins and a major decision.

 

Junior John Georges (Cranston, RI) went 5-2 at 197 lbs. to finish fifth. Georges picked up a pin and a major decision on the day.

 

 

 Senior 149 lbs. Shawn Giblin

 

Junior Victor Zabulu (Hudson, MA) went 4-3 at 184 lbs. to go along with a pin and a major decision to finish sixth at 184 lbs.  

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume New England Wrestling Association action with a dual match at Western New England on Thursday, Dec. 3 (7:30 p.m.).
