ANCHORWOMEN FALL, 128-89, TO
PLYMOUTH STATE

North Smithfield, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s swimming team opened their 2015-16 home schedule against Plymouth State, falling 128-89, in front of a capacity crowd on the campus of Bryant University on Friday evening.

 

The Panthers (4-1) were paced by freshman Deanna DeGrazia (Westport, MA) who won three events on the night, while the Anchorwomen (0-4) were paced junior Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI), who two events.

 

Leazes finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:18.21), first in the 200-yard IM (2:39.41) and third in the 200-yard breast (2:59.02) while also competing as a member of the second place 200-yard medley relay (2:10.92).

 

Sophomore Sydney Curran (North Kingstown, RI) finished first in the 50-yard breast (33.36), second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.92), second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:17.39), while also competing as a member of the second place 200-yard medley relay (2:10.92).

Freshman Kellie Gilluly (Bradford, RI) finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.81) and second in the 50-yard butterfly (32.36), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:09.69) and the second place 200-yard medley relay (2:10.92).

 

Freshman Madison Lane (Barrington, RI) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:45.30) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:20.56), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:09.69) and the second place 200-yard medley relay (2:10.92).

 

Freshman Kimberly Olivos (Providence, RI) finished second in the 50-yard backstroke (44.68), fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:55.71) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (47.49), ), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:09.69).

 

Freshman Courtney Payne (Waterford, CT) finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke (38.52), third in the 50-yard freestyle (30.33) and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:05.77) ), while also competing as a member of the first place 200-yard freestyle relay (2:09.69).

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will host Husson on Friday, Jan. 15 (7 p.m.).
