Newport, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball squad dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 19-25, 17-25) decision against intra-state rival Salve Regina in the first match of a non-conference tri-match hosted by the Seahawks at the Rodgers Recreation Center on Saturday morning.


Sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) notched a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs for the Anchorwomen, 1-4, while junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and nine digs in the setback.  Junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) had 26 assists and nine digs, while senior libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) tallied a team-high 17 digs for the Anchorwomen.

Sophomore outside hitter Cassidy Trablicy (Phoenix, AZ) paced Salve Regina (3-3) with a double-double, recording 12 kills and 12 digs, while freshman middle blocker Annie Donahue (Chelmsford, MA) and senior outside hitter Kat Mendes (New Bedford, MA) were each in double figures in kills with 12 and 10, respectively, for the hosts. Sophomore setter Erin Proctor (Canton, MA) also posted a double-double with 39 assists and 10 digs in the victory for Salve Regina.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will return to action later in the day when they take on Mount Holyoke in the middle contest of the tri-match (noon).
