Framingham, Mass.-The Rhode Island College menís soccer team posted a 5-1 victory at Framingham State in a non-conference contest on Wednesday evening.


RIC (5-2) got on the board in eleventh minute when junior forward Kolma Dogbey (Providence, RI) headed in a free kick from senior midfielder Thomas Wampler (Johnstown, RI). RIC added to their tally with two quick goals less than two minutes apart.


In the 24th minute, junior defender Elimane Seye (Providence, RI) scored with senior midfielder Dan Monteiro (Pawtuket, RI) assisting. Just about 90 seconds later, Wampler sent a free kick in from roughly 25 yards that was headed on net by junior forward Cooper Ferreira (Westerly, RI). The visitors took a 4-0 lead into the break after Monteiro buried a free kick from 20 yards in the final minute of the period.

The Anchormen extended their lead to five scores early in the second frame when Dogbey tallied his second of the day with an assist coming again from Wampler. Framingham State (3-4) got on the board in the 77th minute when Daniel Campos (Framingham, MA) scored his first of the season with an assist coming from Simon Appiah (Worcester, MA).  That would be all the scoring, however as RIC cruised to the 5-1 win.


Senior goalkeeper Chris Moura (Rumford, RI) made six saves in net for RIC before giving way to classmate Alex LaBreche (Lincoln, RI) for the final 18 minutes. Corey Davidge (Blackstone, MA) made four saves in the first half for the Rams before being relieved by Josh Arno (Natick, MA) for the final 45 minutes of work.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Little East Conference foe UMass Boston on Saturday, Sept. 24 (7 pm)
