Norton, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team notched a thrilling, 3-2 (25-22, 25-20, 30-32, 20-25, 15-12), victory over Wheaton in a non-conference contest played at Emerson Gymnasium on Thursday night.


Sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) recorded yet another double-double for RIC (5-5) with 18 kills and 17 digs, while junior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) posted a team high 19 kills with six digs and three blocks. 


Junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) tallied a double-double with 37 assists and 15 digs, while senior libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) notched a team best 23 digs.

Wheaton (7-8) was paced by Cathryn McGregor with a match high 20 kills and 22 digs, while Becca Houghton narrowly missed a triple-double with 29 set assists, 11 digs and eight kills for the Lyons. Stephanie Martin added a match high 34 digs in the setback.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference play at home against Keene State on Saturday, Sept. 24 (Noon).
