North Dartmouth, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s tennis team posted a 7-2 victory at UMass Dartmouth in a Little East Conference contest on Tuesday afternoon. The win was the eighth straight for RIC as the Anchorwomen remained undefeated for the 2016 campaign.


In doubles action, RIC (8-0, 3-0 LEC) jumped out to the early advantage after taking two of the three doubles matches.  The Anchorwomen’s No. 1 pair of junior Dayna Reilly (Swansea, MA) and senior Julie Reddy (Smithfield, RI) posted an 8-2 victory over UMass Dartmouth (4-2, 3-1 LEC) sophomore Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, MA) and senior Jillian Reichert (Marion, MA)


RIC also took a victory at the No. 3 doubles spot when junior Laura Nastasi (Smithville, NJ) and senior Jorgie Martin (Greenville, RI) picked up an 8-4 win over junior Kheyla Orival (Woburn, MA) and junior Natasha Shiku (North Grafton, MA)

The lone win for the Corsairs in doubles came at the No. 2 spot when junior Molly McCaffrey (Taunton, MA) and freshman Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, MA) teamed to defeat RIC sophomore Katherine Braganca (Pawtucket, RI) and junior Isabella Romeo (Greenville, RI) by a score of 9-7.


Reilly recorded her second victory of the day at No. 1 singles with a (6-1, 6-2) win against Lahaie, while Reddy posted a (6-1, 6-1) win over McCaffrey at No. 2 singles for her second win of the afternoon. 


 Nastasi picked up a (6-3, 6-2) win over Fastino at the No. 3 spot with Braganca taking a (6-1, 6-2) victory against junior Samantha Rollings (Tiverton, RI) at the No. 4 spot. 


Junior Molina Oung (Bourne, MA) tallied the lone singles win for UMD, recording a win over Martin (6-1, 6-1) at the fifth singles spot.  Romeo capped of the win for the Anchorwomen with a (7-6, 6-3) win over Reichert at No. 6.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at home against UMass Boston on Saturday, Oct. 1 (1 p.m.).
