Westfield, Mass.-Sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) notched 164th place finish (25:34.41) to lead the Rhode Island College women’s cross country team to a 33rd place finish (41 teams) at the 21st Annual James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park on Saturday afternoon.


The Anchorwomen finished the 5K course with a team score of 883.0, while the University of New England won the meet with a score of 65.0. There were 459 runners at the race.

Junior Briana Lenihan (Saunderstown, RI) finished in 170th place (25:36.65), while freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) recorded a 222nd place finish (26:08.41). Senior Allison Lomas (Saunderstown, RI) clocked in at (27:13.12), which was good for 295th place, while junior Lissa Almanzar (Providence, RI) posted a 357th place finish (28:34.28) for RIC.


Freshman Wennely Figueroa (Providence, RI) finished the race in 366th place (28:53.79), while senior Abigail Dandurand (Hope Valley, RI) recorded a time of (29:30.48), good for a 397th place finish. Freshman Sarah Basler (East Greenwich, RI) finished in 405th place (29:43.46), while junior Tess Rhoat (Wakefield, RI) notched a 428th place finish (32:07.33).  Sophomore Margaret Buckley (Norwich, CT) rounded out the RIC contingent, placing 448th overall (37:33.32).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to the Western New England Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15 (10:30 a.m.).
