Boston, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 12-25, 18-25) decision against UMass Boston in a Little East Conference contest played at the Clark Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.


RIC (9-11, 0-5 LEC) was led by sophomore outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) with seven kills, three digs and one block, while freshman middle blocker Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) tallied three kills, three service aces and three digs in the setback.  Junior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) notched 11 assists and eight digs and junior libero Megan Armburg (Swansea, MA) contributed a team best nine digs in the loss for the Anchorwomen.


Senior outside hitter Colleen Koen (Centerville, MA) paced UMass Boston (19-3, 6-0 LEC) with 12 kills, while fellow senior outside hitter Julia Murphy (Canton, MA) added eight kills, four blocks and three digs in the victory.  Sophomore setter Christina Elliott (Camas, WA) registered 14 assists and five digs, while senior defensive specialist Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, MN) registered a match-best 12 digs and three service aces for the Beacons. 


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host intra-city rival Johnson & Wales at the Murray Center on Thursday, Oct. 20 (7 p.m.).
