Providence, R.I.--Senior forward Komla Dogbey (Providence, RI) scored a pair of goals to lead the Rhode Island College menís soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Westfield State in a non-conference contest played at Alumni Field on Wednesday evening. The win extends the Anchormenís unbeaten streak to seven games, dating back to a 3-0 win over Roger Williams on Sept. 28.

Rhode Island College (11-3-1) raced out to the early 1-0 advantage when junior forward Steven Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) played a through ball to Dogbey. Dogbey then went one-on-one with the defender before scoring on a shot from five yards out just 4:42 into the contest. Westfield State (7-6-1) was quick to respond, however, as junior defender Kory McGilvray (Wilmington, MA) had a throw-in into the box from the far sideline. The throw in connected with sophomore forward Brodie Keene (Feeding Hills, MA), who headed in a shot from five yards out to knot the game at 1-1 in the ninth minute.

RIC registered a 12-3 advantage in shots for the first half and took the one goal lead heading into halftime.

Both teams had several solid scoring opportunities in the second half with RIC holding the 10-8 advantage in shots for the stanza.

RIC senior goalkeeper Alexander LaBreche (Lincoln, RI) made six saves for his first win on the season, while junior Marc Patnaude (North Andover, MA) recorded 10 stops in the loss for the Owls.
