Plymouth, N.H.--The Rhode Island College women’s soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback against Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.


Plymouth State (9-3-2, 3-3-0) got on the board at the 24:26 mark of the first half as junior forward Naomi Kramer (Bow, NH) tallied an unassisted goal for the 1-0 advantage. That would be all the scoring for the half as the Panthers took the one goal lead heading into halftime after outshooting RIC by a 10-2 margin.


It was more of the same in the second half as PSU tacked on three more goals, starting with an unassisted tally by senior defenseman Leah Swanson (Atkinson, NH) less than five minutes into the stanza to extend the lead to 2-0. Freshman midfielder Lindsey Perkins (Readfield, ME) later scored with an assist credited to junior midfielder Sophie Brisere (Stockholm, Sweden) to make the score 3-0 in the 64th minute. Plymouth State capped off the scoring for the afternoon at the 72:39 mark as senior midfielder Hannah Kallis (Sanford, ME) notched an unassisted goal to propel the Panthers to the shutout victory.

RIC junior goalkeeper Brianna Sousa (Warwick, RI) made seven saves, while senior Annaliese Schmidt (Newmarket, NH) notched three stops for Plymouth State


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Fitchburg State on Wednesday, Oct. 26 (7 p.m.).
