Warwick, R.I.-The Rhode Island College men's golf team captured “The Cup” against intra-state rival Johnson & Wales University at Valley Country Club on Sunday afternoon. This was the seventh annual “The Cup” event, a Ryder Cup format featuring the two NCAA Division III institutions in Rhode Island. RIC leads the series 4-3.




RIC had the 2 ˝ to 1 ˝ lead after Best Ball to start the day. Johnson & Wales then responded by taking three of the four Alternate Shot matches to pull ahead, 5-3, heading into singles competition. The Anchormen dominated the singles play, taking six of the eight matches en route to the 9 ˝ -  6 ˝ victory for the event.
