Springfield, Mass.--The Rhode Island College menís indoor track & field team competed at the Springfield College Maroon & White Classic on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.


RIC freshman Levon Campbell (Newport, RI) captured first place in the 200m (22.87) and was seventh in the 60m (7.24). He also ran the lead leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished in second place (3:29.37).

Fellow rookie Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) took home first place in the triple jump (12.91m) and finished in fourth place in the 400m (52.56). Wagnac ran the third leg of the second place 4x400m relay team (3:29.37). Sophomore Destin Bibemi (Providence, RI) was in fifth place in the 400m (52.58) and had the second leg of the 4x400m relay team (3:29.37) that finished second. Bibemi also finished in sixth place in the long jump (5.76m).


RIC junior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) won the weight throw (16.76m) and recorded an 18th place finish in the shot (10.31m). Junior Jonathan Carney (Bristol, RI) had a 20th place finish in the 3,000m (9:53.90) with sophomore Jeff Garson (Cumberland, RI) taking 19th in the mile (5:16.12).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Boston University Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28.
