Springfield, Mass.--The Rhode Island College women’s indoor track & field team competed at the Springfield College Maroon & White classic on Saturday. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.


RIC sophomore Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI) captured first place in both the high jump (1.65m) and the triple jump (11.24m). She also had a third place finish in the 60m hurdles (9.78).


Freshman Emma Landroche (Warwick, RI) won the 200m (26.57) and had fourth place finish in the 60m (8.19) for the Anchorwomen. RIC sophomore Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) took second place in the 60m (8.07) and was also second in the 200m (27.00). Sophomore Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) recorded a seventh place finish in the 60m (8.30) and was sixth in the 200m (27.50). Freshman Jacklyn Xavier (Cumberland, RI) also had a pair of top-10 finishes for RIC, taking eighth in the 60m (8.33) and ninth in the 200m (27.57). Freshman Cassidy Bissitt (Smithfield, RI) was in fifth place in the 600m (1:48.81).

RIC sophomore Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) finished in 10th place in the 3,000m (11:48.83) with junior Briana Linehan (Saunderstown, RI) taking seventh in the 5,000m (20:40.91). Junior Destinee Barrette (Warwick, RI) took home second place in the weight throw (15.21m) and was in eighth place in the shot (9.80m).


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Boston University Invitational on Friday, Jan. 27.
