NICOLE LANGELLA SELECTED TO EMPIRE 8 SPORTSWOMEN OF THE YEAR TEAM

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College sophomore Nicole Langella (Pembroke, MA) was the Anchorwomen’s representative on the Empire 8 Conference 2017 Women’s Golf Sportswomen of the Year Team. The Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. Langella and the other 11 honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen. 

 

She averaged a score of 92.8 at five competitions this fall.

 

 

Langella finished in a tie for fourth place to earn All-New England honors with a score of 182 (92, 90) at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships on Oct. 22-23. She tied for eighth with a two-day score of 184 (98, 86) and earned Second Team All-Conference honors at the Empire 8 Championships on Oct. 14-15. Langella finished in 47th place with a score of 192 (98, 94) at Middlebury’s George Phinney Classic on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. She finished in a tie for 72nd place with a score of 191 (97, 94) at the Mount Holyoke Invitational on Sept. 23-24. Langella opened the season with a score of 87 to tie for second place in a 371-354 loss to Suffolk on Sept. 10.

 

Head Coach Gene St. Pierre’s team is off until the spring semester. This fall, RIC finished seventh at the Empire 8 Championships and finished third at the NEIGA Championships.
