WARRIORS OUTLAST ANCHORWOMEN, 3-2

Providence, R.I.-Senior outside hitter Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, RI) notched a match-high 24 kills and contributed 17 digs, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-2 (16-25, 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 13-15) decision at Eastern Connecticut in a Little East Conference contest on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) recorded another double-double with 17 kills and a match-high 28 digs for the Anchorwomen.

• RIC sophomore right side hitter Jacqueline Jutras (North Scituate, RI) had seven kills, 13 assists and seven digs, while freshman libero Samantha Borges (Swansea, MA) tallied 23 digs in the setback.  

• Senior setter Abigayl White (Coventry, RI) notched 40 assists and registered 25 digs for the Anchorwomen.

• Eastern Connecticut was paced by freshman outside hitter Abby Stern (Manchester, CT) with 17 kills and 18 digs, while senior outside hitter Carly Balskus (Hebron, CT) added 17 kills and seven digs in the victory.

• Sophomore setter Mckenzie Maneggia (Andover, CT) tallied 26 assists and 21 digs for the Warriors.

 

BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC posted a .183 (59-22-202) hitting percentage, while Eastern Connecticut hit .164 (65-28-226).

• The Anchorwomen had eight service aces, 108 digs and four blocks, while Eastern Connecticut notched 108 digs with seven service aces.

 

WHO'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will
will travel to Wentworth for a non-conference tri-match with the Leopards and Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday, Oct. 7 (11 a.m.).
