GRACE ZANGARI NAMED LITTLE EAST WOMEN'S TENNIS
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen. It marks the third time this season that Zangari has been tabbed the LECís top rookie.

 

Zangari helped the Anchorwomen to a perfect 2-0 week with a pair of Little East Conference victories. RIC defeated UMass Dartmouth, 7-2, on Oct. 3 before wrapping up the week with an, 8-1, win over UMass Boston on Oct. 7.

 

 

 

Zangari went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 3 doubles for the week. She didnít drop a point in singles action, posting a perfect (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 2 singles against UMass Dartmouth and a perfect (6-0, 6-0) win at No. 1 singles against UMass Boston. She added a 9-7 win at the third doubles spot and secured an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against UMass Boston to wrap up the week.

 

 Zangari is currently 12-0 (1.000) at No. 2 singles and 12-0 (1.000) at No. 2/No. 3 doubles on the season.

 

 RIC is currently 12-0 overall and 6-0 in the Little East Conference.

 

 In upcoming action, Head Coach Adam Springís team will travel to Bridgewater State for a key Little East Conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 10 (3:00 p.m.). The match is a rematch of the 2016 LEC Championship contest.
