ANCHORMEN FINISH DAY ONE AT GNAC
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SECOND PLACE

Warwick, R.I.-Junior Mike Caparco (Johnston, RI) is tied for fourth overall and Rhode Island College is currently in second place after first round action of the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championships, played at Valley Country Club.

 

THE BASICS
Rhode Island College totaled a team score of 308 (+20). Johnson & Wales is currently in first place with a score of 297 (+9). UMass Dartmouth (311; +23), Suffolk (312; +24) and St. Joseph’s (316; +28) round out the top five in the nine-team field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Caparco fired a first round score of 74 (+2) to pace the RIC lineup.

• Senior Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) and sophomore Nathan Patterson (Conway, MA) are tied for 10th overall with a score of 77 (+5).

• Sophomore Connor Fillmore (Killingly, CT) carded an 80 (+8) to tie for 19th.

• Freshman Connor Liebscher (Danielson, CT) recorded an 81 (+9) to tie for 22nd.

 

BY THE NUMBERS
• There are 45 golfers and nine teams competing at the GNAC Championships.

• Valley Country Club is a par-72 course that measures 6,673-yards.

 

WHO'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will tee off in the second and final round of the 2017 GNAC Championships tomorrow morning.
