RIC FINISHES SECOND AFTER DAY ONE
AT THE NEIGA DIV. III CHAMPIONSHIPS

Brewster, Mass.--Junior Mike Caparco (Johnston, RI) carded a 73 and is currently in a tie for third place to help lead the RIC men’s golf team to a second place finish (303) after the first round of the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Div. III Championship played at the Captains Course (Port) on Sunday afternoon.

 

THE BASICS
Rhode Island College (Team Score: 303) is currently in second place (19 teams), while Husson (Team Score: 298) is currently in first place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior Austin Cilley (Westerly, RI) carded a 75 and is in a tie for 10th place.

• Sophomore Nathan Patterson (Conway, MA) is in a tie for 13th place (76), while senior Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) is tied for 33rd with a 79.

• Freshman Niko Kacavas is tied for 90th (93).

 

BY THE NUMBERS
• The par-72 Captains Course (Port) measures 6,610 yards and the tournament featured 19 teams with 93 golfers.

 

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will tee off in the second round of the NEIGA Championship on Monday, October 23 (10 a.m.).
