Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College senior forward Komla Dogbey (Providence, RI) and freshman goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in a 1-0-1 week for the Anchormen.


Dogbey was named the Little East Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. He scored twice, including a highlight-reel bicycle kick and then netting the game-winning goal, as RIC defeated Plymouth State, 3-2, on Oct. 28 to claim a share of the 2017 Little East Conference Regular Season Championship for the second consecutive season.

He has played in 16 games, starting all of them. Dogbey has seven goals and two assists for 16 points.


Tashjian was named the Little East Conference Men's Rookie of the Week. It is the fifth time this season he has received this accolade. Tashjian made four saves in the club's, 1-1, double overtime tie at Johnson & Wales on Oct. 24. He also stopped four offerings in the 3-2 win at Plymouth State on Oct. 28.


He has played in 17 games, starting 16 of them. Tashjian is 7-6-2 with a 1.32 goals against average and a .790 save percentage to go along with 8 saves and four shutouts in 1,495:32 of action.

Head Coach John Mello's team is 8-7-2 overall and 5-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC is the No. 2 seed in the Little East Championship and will host third-seeded UMass Boston in semifinal action on Wednesday, Nov. 1 (6 p.m.).
