WRESTLING OPENS SEASON AT
BOMBER INVITATIONAL

Providence, R.I.--Freshman Ricky Brown (North Kingstown, RI) went 3-2 at 285 lbs. while junior Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) posted a 3-2 mark at 174 lbs., to lead the Rhode Island College wrestling team to a 15th place finish at the season-opening Ithaca Bomber Invitational at the Providence Career & Technical Academy this weekend.

 

THE BASICS
RIC finished in 15th place (16 teams) with 15.0 points, while Stevens Institute of Technology took home first place with 142.0 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brown picked up four points for the Anchormen with Ford registering 3.5 points for the tournament. Ford had a major decision victory in his first match at the event.

Freshman Nicholas Coppola (Wantagh, NY) posted a 2-2 record at 184 lbs. to pick up 3.5 points on the weekend for RIC.

Freshman Nick Gould (North Attleboro, MA) was 2-2 at 165 lbs. to earn 3.5 points for the Anchormen in his collegiate debut.

Freshman Brandon Nunez (Rockaway, NY) registered a 1-2 mark at 125 lbs., while fellow rookie James Smith (Belle Mead, NJ) was 1-2 at 165 lbs. on the weekend.

 

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will return to action at Springfield College's Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 18 (10 am).
