BRITTANY DEGROOTH NAMED SECOND TEAM

ALL-LITTLE EAST IN WOMENíS SOCCER

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior forward Brittany DeGrooth (Westerly, RI) was named Second Team All-Little East for her performance in womenís soccer this season.

 

She played in 16 games, starting all of them. DeGrooth led the team in scoring with nine goals and four assists for 22 points on the year. She ranked fifth in the Little East in goals, eighth in assists and was fifth in points.

 

 

 

DeGrooth registered a two-goal performance in the teamís, 3-2, setback at Alumni Field against Western Connecticut on Oct. 14. She recorded three points in a 5-3 win at home over Dean on Sept. 18 and later in a 7-2 loss at Keene State on Oct. 21. She tallied three game-winning goals on the season, giving RIC a 2-1 victory over Salve Regina on Sept. 9, the 5-2 win over Dean on Sept. 18 and the 2-1 win over Becker on Oct. 4.

 

Head Coach Christina Pirriís team finished the 2017 season with a 5-12-1 overall mark and a 2-4-1 record in the Little East. The fifth-seeded Anchorwomen fell in the opening round of the 2017 Little East Tournament, 2-0, at No. 4-seeded UMass Boston on Oct. 31.
