Manny Karngar Earns All-ECAC Honors at ECAC Div. III Championships


Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman Emmanuel Karngar (Providence, RI) earned All-ECAC honors in the 800 meters, placing sixth with a time of 1:54.51, at the ECAC Div. III Menís Indoor Track and Field Championships.


Karngar is a provisional qualifier to the NCAA Div. III National Championships in the 800 meters and will find out Monday, Mar. 10 if he is selected. Karngar has had an outstanding rookie season, earning All-New England honors in the 800 meters and All-Alliance/Little East honors in both the 400 and 800 meters.


Karngar, along with junior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) and sophomores Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) and Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI), placed 12th as part of the distance medley relay team with a time of 10:24.19 at the ECAC Championships.


Sophomore Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) placed 24th in the weight throw with a distance of 13.15 meters.


Head Coach Kevin Jacksonís team placed 39th (43 teams) with a team score of 3.0 points at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Tufts University on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 7-8.
