Casey Lesieur begins her first season as an assistant women's gymnastics coach at Rhode Island College.

“I am very excited with the hiring of our brand new assistant coach to RIC,” Head Women’s Gymnastics Coach Monica  Mesalles Nassi said. “Casey Lesieur brings to RIC years of experience, as well as her enthusiasm for the sport of gymnastics. These characteristics will be an amazing addition to the Rhode Island College gymnastics program.”

“I have always done both cheerleading and gymnastics,” Lesieur said. “I am extremely excited to add gymnastics back into my life and cannot wait to help these student-athletes gain confidence, leadership, and success. 

The Coventry, R.I. native starred for RIC’s women’s gymnastics team as a freshman in 2008-09. She was named the team’s MVP. Lesieur averaged scores of 9.033 on vault, 8.570 on bars, 8.958 on beam, 9.155 on floor and 35.753 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 9.350 on vault, 9.075 on bars and 37.000 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 7 and 9.450 on beam and 9.550 on floor vs. Wilson on Feb. 14. Lesieur led the team on bars, beam, floor and the all-around, while ranking second on vault.

She was named the ECAC Freshman of the Week twice and was tabbed ECAC Rookie Gymnast of the Year. Lesieur was also RIC’s lone qualifier to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships as an all-around specialist from the East Region 

Lesieur moved on to Syracuse University where she competed for SU’s club women’s gymnastics team. She served as a team captain and was ranked No. 4 in the nation for the all-around. Lesieur also spent two seasons as a collegiate cheerleader, earning a varsity letter in 2012-13.

She is currently the co-owner and a competitive cheerleading coach for the New England Tumble Force. Lesieur has also worked as an NBA Cheerleader and Green Team Member for the Boston Celtics.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental and interior design from Syracuse in 2013.
